Scanner installs as a "removable Drive"

I have attempted to install an Epson scanner on a win98 SE system.  When it looks like I am finnished with the install, I get an error message about needing to reinstall the Twain driver when I click on a function in its utility.  I have done that and I still get that message.  When I look for the scanner in the device manager, it is listed a a removeable mass storage device under disk drives.  I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still does the same thing.

P.S.  I dont really know how difficult this question is, its very difficult to me, lol
