I have an Inspiron 700m that will not charge at all. I've tested this with several known-good power supplies. When one inserts the cord, the power light on the laptop remains off, not even a flicker. For about 2 days, the problem was intermittant, in that the laptop would charge if the plug was inserted partially. Now it will not charge no matter what (also doesn't matter if the battery is installed or not).
Does this problem imply a worn female socket on the laptop side, or broken power-handling electronics in the laptop? In any event, it seems to me that only a new motherboard will solve the problem, unless this laptop has a seperate power board.
Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?
