Duplicate mail in Outlook - want easy way to remove duplicates...

Hi,

I have about 7800 mails in a folder in Outlook 2003, Our mail server basically forwards a copy of everything sent or received from / by certain people in our corporation, and stores in a folder on my machine. Problem is when a mail is generated to let say 7 people, I get all 7 copies and i would like to, from time to time, just run a "duplicate search" and remove some of them to save space with my .pst file, due to it being backed-up up everyday!

Is there a feature in Outlook that can help me with this?

Kindest Regards
Lynton

Greetings, LyntonJennings !

If you have just a few duplicates, it may be easiest to manually remove them. For emails, this is no problem but for any other Outlook item it is easiest to view the items in a table view, then select the duplicates, then delete them.

To accomplish this, go to View...By Category (or "By" anything really). This gets the view into a mode you can work with. Click either names or subjects (or any shown field) in the column header (in the gray area) to gather similar items together. You can then delete all the duplicates you find.

Sperry Software offers 8 different Outlook duplicate eliminators, including a bundle package comprising all 8 for one price.

There are sometimes free solutions to resolve duplicates (see the Resources page).
