Active Directory Backup and restore

Hello
I have been advised that I should be backing up the Active Directory database.

Can someone suggest the best way to backup Active Directory and the best way to test a restore?

Hi GrahamR99,
AD database is part of the system state of any domain controller, so if you are already keeping a daily backup of your domain controllers, you are on the right track.
Anyway, to perform regular backup/restore operations there are many solutions, starting from the built-in NTBackup and including many commercial products (Symantec Backup Exec, just to name one). What is really crucial, is for you to setup the optimal back-up scheme and a periodical restore test, for which you might have to need a spare machine or some virtual machines.
