can you browse the machine through \\&lt;ip address&gt; if you can access then it is mostly because of Name Resolution Problem. <br />

Yes since it is also Cable router it should work. Are you specific to go for only 3Com are LinkSys only?

When I try to open a computer using \\computer from windows server 2003, i get the error message &quot;No network provider accepted the given network path.&quot; The reason I did this was to map this computer to the server. When I try the same command line from a computer it works fine.
