How to use network scanning with a Canon ImageRUNNER C3220

This office has a networked Canon ImageRUNNER C3220. I have read that it is possible to scan from a networked computer, how is this accomplished? It does not show up as a TWAIN device on the networked computers. I have found Canon's driver page for this printer and have tried reinstalling the drivers, but still can not figure out how to remotely scan.

The various downloads on the Canon site don't include a utility called "Color Network ScanGear"  which, according to the brochure, is what has to be installed on your workstations to provide a TWAIN interface for the scanner.   The brochure indicates this "ships standard with all ... C3220 print controller options" ==> which is a bit vague.  There is an optional board called an "imagePASS-C1" ==> there are no details on this at Canon's site, but it sounds from the name like it may be required for sending scans (I'd hope not).   If you have the ScanGear software you probably just need to install it.   If not, you should probably ask Canon what you need to do to enable this capability.

There is also a more sophisticated "imageWARE Scan Manager" package -- but that's not a simple scan package; it's an overall document manager and flow control package for workgroups that do a LOT of scanning.

Usually they have a print server module that has an UTP connectorm so look for it.
You assign it an IP address, netmask and must have a management utility.

Great, that's the information I was looking for. Actually a google search for "Color Network ScanGear" turned up this page:
http://www.usa.canon.com/html/download/canonnetutils.html

That being the second download on the list. I will try this and post the results.
I also hope that an "imagePASS-C1" is not required, although I don't get that impression reading the product details.

I missed the download -- actually since it wasn't listed on the downloads for the C3220 I didn't even do a "Google" for it !!   Good catch -- and hopefully that's all you need.

That was all I need, one issue I ran into is that after installing the software, I tried to scan something and got an error message "Scanner not responding"
All that needed to take place was the user entering an ID number into the printer to unlock it. Thanks for your help.
