Is this a new installation, or did it suddenly stop working?

As the message says, the database location policy is not configured.  If it used to be, and from what you can tell in the policy properties/object(s) still is, then something else changed that is preventing the java app from seeing the policy.

Otherwise, check to see if the policy was changed or deleted, or if it wasn't set up, set one up.

Any changes done before it stopped, or any events occur?  Was the server down for some reason, or do you turn inventory off & on as a matter of procedure?  Was there an abend, or a power outage, or something else that could possibly have resulted in corruption somewhere?

Did you do a JAVA -SHOW to see if there's perhaps duplicate java apps running?  Sometimes when you tell an app to close, it doesn't close all the way causing doubling-up and other issues...

removing edirectory in June and reinstalling.  Found out there are more issues then just Zen not working.

    Accepted Solution

"removing edirectory in June and reinstalling."

You mean you're going to blow everything away - all user objects, etc. - and start over from scratch?  That sounds like more fun than a barrel of monkey scat.

How many issues are there, that such a radical move is deemed best?  Was this, like, an upgrade from 5.1 upgraded from 4.11 upgraded from 3.12 situation where you've got years of garbage and perhaps some poor design decisions or something?

Maybe you could try installing a new tree on a clean server, and then migrate just the good stuff from the old tree using the Server Consolidation tool?

It appears the netware network was not designed properly from the start.  It evolved from a Citrix Winframe / Netware network to a Netware network.  The company that originally set up the network no longer support Novell Products.  Any install / upgrade has gone like the Zen project.  It took three days for a BorderManager server to be complete removed from edirectory, even with support directly from Novell.

I think I will close this question.  The help provide was appreciated!
