Office 2003 transfer

We are currently not using a computer that has MS Office 2003 since an employee left.  I would like to transfer that version of office to another PC.  How would I go about getting the Serical Numbers - Product ID or whatever I need from the computer.  From there I am guessing that I would then only have to get the office installation CD to complete the task. Please let me know.  Thank you.

Hello winkingtiger,

even if you can retrieve the product key etc you still need to activate with microsoft on the other pc > http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=302806

according to http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/faq.mspx
----------
Q. How many times can I install Office 2003 Editions?
A. You can install one copy of Office Professional Edition 2003, Office Small Business Edition 2003, and Office Standard Edition 2003 on your main computer and another on your laptop computer for your exclusive, but non-concurrent use. To install a version of these Office 2003 Editions on more than these two computers, you must obtain another license for the program. You can install Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 on up to three computers in your household if a household member is qualified. You can work with Office 2003 Editions at your desk and when mobile. Note  Licenses for the 2003 release of Office acquired preinstalled on new computers are single-computer licenses that cannot be transferred or installed on another computer.

not sure if this goes for a second pc but you can try.

otherwise contacting MS support directly with your question would something to try
starting to look up the country and support center you need

hope this helps a bit

Okay, so even if I delete the installation from the old computer, I can not switch the installation.
as said earlier you can try to activate the second pc with office, but if that is a no go then the support call is the best option Microsoft is not going to make it difficult for you to activate on another pc if you explain the problem and have the original copy + key available

maybe another way is rebuild the old pc and reinstall office + activate it again on it as far as i know its tied to hardware config not software
I will try and talk to customer support.  Would you know how to get the Product Key, which is what I think I need, from the registry?
