Hi Folks

I have a tricky one for you.  When logged in as an Admistrator into Windows XP pro, I can go to Internet Explorer, and go to File, Open and tick the box that Says Open as Web Folder.  But when I am logged into it as a standard user, this is greyed out.  Any one got any ideas?

What do you mean? You want to give users the ability to change this? Because the explanation is simple, normal users don't have rights maybe, is the pc in a domain? or using novell?

Is this XP box part of a domain or stand-alone?  Could be downloading a policy of sorts.....

I've checked the policy and cant find anything anywhere that would do it.  Its on a network so its a setting somewhere :-)  I just need to know where it is :-)

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Set the WebClient service to start Automatically.
Control Panel > Adminitrstor tools > Services > WebClient

It sounds to me like the service is set to manual and the account with local Administrator access is able to start it when needed, but the User level accounts can not.

Of course there are security risks associated with doing so…

I worked it out.  It was a security policy applied to the start menu.  Weird one that.  Thanks for your help folks.
