Time based rules in Outlook 2003

Is it  possible to create a rule in Outlook that generates a different auto reply at different times of the day so that we can have our standard auto reply during the day, but one containing a 24x7 support  number at night ?

Greetings, hbsx !

There is nothing natively within Outlook 2003 to allow you to create time based rules. Sorry!

Best wishes!

Hi hbsx,

There might be a way to do this using a script.  Are we talking about individual mailboxes or a group support mailbox?

Cheers!

Hi this is a group support mailbox.

That makes this a lot simpler.  You can use a script/Outlook macro to monitor the mailbox and respond differently at different times of the day.  To do this you would need to leave Outlook open and running on a workstation.  I'll have to check and see if the script can modify the response text based on time of day, or if it would have to generate and send the response.  If the latter, then you'd also have to employ a third-party tool since sending Outlook messages via code triggers Outlook security, generating a pop up messgae warning that an application is accessing your mailbox and asking for permission to continue.  If using a script sounds like an option, then let me know and I'll provide the details.
