Illustrator produces error when saving: Acrobat PDF file format is having difficulties.
Hi,
When I try to save an Illustrator document I get the following error:
Acrobat PDF file format is having difficulties.
Bad parameter.
This leaves me unable to save my work unless I choose an older file format version (which is not convenient!).
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator but that didn't help.
My system details:
Windows XP Home Ed SP2
Illustrator 9.0
Acrobat 7.0 proffessional
Adobe Reader 7
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Phil

Hi Naren,
I'm sorry I wasn't quite clear. I am trying to save the document in the native Illustrator 9 format i.e. *.AI .
I am not trying to create a pdf.

khkremer -
I have worked through the options on the page you suggested but have had no luck. I am still getting the same error, and occasionally I get the following message:
Can't save the illustration.
I am having this problem with lots of illustrator files, that is - I can open them, but I can't re-save them. It also occurs occasionally with new artwork that I create. I think perhaps that the problem is not with corrupted artwork, but more likely with Illustrator itself or a confilict with another program.
I am going to try installing Illustrator on a different computer and see if I get the same problem. I'll post back in a couple of days to let you know the result.
Thanks
Phil

If it turns out that it's a problem with Illustrator, you may have to take this up with Adobe support.

Hi,
I finally managed to try loading my files on a friends installation of Illustrator and found that there were no errors. I can only assume there is something wrong with my installation of Illustrator. I am probably going to upgrade to a later version soon anyway, and before I do will reinstall windows (it's been a while since I did, and it always seems to speed the computer up!).
Thanks for your help

You wrote "When I try to save an Illustrator document I get the following error", you didn't mention that in which format the illustrator you want to save. But I understand from your question, you want save Illustrator file into PDF format. I think Illustrator application is not full installed properly in your computer, if you want to save Illustrator file into PDF format, there so many tools to save into PDF format. You can install "Adobe PDF Writer" or "PDF995" into your computer. After installing the utility into your computer, open illustrator file into Illustrator and give print command and select "Adobe PDF Writer" or "PDF995" and click OK, the file will save into PDF format. "PDF995" is free on the net, you can download easily.
If you have any problem, contact me.
