Verizon FIOS internet connection install help

Hello I have a FIOS internet connection and they install the dlink router.  I want to take out the dlink and put in my sg-300 firewall.  I have set the PPOE settings and cannot get connected to the internet.  THe weird thing is if I change my settings to generic cable modem settings I get to the internet but my default gateway on my sg is 192.168.0.1 and this should be an external ip.  there are no routers in front of it so I do not know where this address is coming from.  I want to eventually get my VPN up but cannot with a internal defualt gateway.

You could always plug the dlink back in and look at teh settings it gets (for gateway and dns) and plug those in manually to the sg-300, but the pppoe should work. Are you sure you are using the right username and password? Have you called Verizon about this? They should be able to help you get this running since it is legit to use your own equipment and the stuff they gave you didn't provide the functionality you need.

FIGURED IT OUT.  Jar you got the points.  The issue was I was remotely walking through setting this up with someone who doesnt have a clue.  She had a linksys router and the dlink connected on the lan.
