autocad 2002 installation problem

I have a copy of autocad 2002 that I tried to install.  The installation didn't completely finish.  After trying several times and ways to start the application, I tried to uninstall it.  This failed, too.  It didn't even show up in the list.  However, when I tried again to install, it said a version of the software already existed on the machine and it wouldn't give me the option of re-install.  I was told there was some kind of trick to this, any ideas?  Thanks.

For your installation symptoms I'd say:

1- check for enough HD space
2- Disable your anti-virus software prior to install

For the uninstall/re-install, have you tried rebooting between the attempts?

Ill be back tomorow to followup :o)
You may have to run a windows installer cleanup utility from Microsoft.  Sometimes Acad gets stuck in the registry but is not shown the Add/Remove programs.  This happens a lot with Raster Design.  You can't install Acad until you run this app.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301 you can dowload it here.

After you remove it from the registry you'll have to delete all the folders it creates.
