To rename publication name

SQL2K

I want to rename a publication name.

Publications:     siddiqsons:siddiqsons (Name before : is publication name and after column is database name.

I want to rename the above as [ SiddiqsonsVsProd_Dcity ] without affecting the existing articles and subscribers.

I think the better way is to drop and recreate the publication

one way generate the script of your publication.
paste it to the query analyzer replace siddiqsons  with  SiddiqsonsVsProd_Dcity dont replace the server name and database name only the pulication name and then execute it  on the query analyzer and then reschedule the four agents
either from the replication screen or the jobs screen.

the four agents are
1.snapshot agent
2..log reader
3. siddiqsons:SiddiqsonsVsProd_Dcity
4. distributor (just schedule it once it will be common for all publications)

tell you what if you try to rename the publication without droping them you need to change it in msdb database but it is very risky. i never did it and it is not recommended. so better use the above mentioned method of generating the script.
