Hi!

I'm having trouble printing flash content (charts, etc.) with Firefox (latest release).
Is this a known issue or is it just me?

Is there a fix for it?

From what I can tell your problem is reasonably isolated, does this affect all sites or just a few?

Hi RedKelvin,

I tried to google the problem and saw a few comments but not many, and no solutions. It seems to be the same with all sites. Graphics and images seem to be fine, but no flash...

It's not the printer either, the flash doesn't get displayed in print preview and my PDF 'printers' or converters don't work either.

Does it work fine from IE?, maybe try removing flash and firefox, and reinstalling them, installing Firefox first.

No, IE doesn't seem to have this issue. Netscape just uses the IE and Firefox rendering engine so it works while display like IE is on and doesn't while display like FF is on.

I've tried uninstalling and have tried it with Flash Player 6 and Flash Player 8, but still not working...

Someone has already reported this bug with mozilla
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=248936

Mozilla have confirmed it, but given no workaround or fix, keep an eye on this case to see what the resolution is.

Another similar case

This is the normal Mozilla process, when you have issues, but since it is already reported, just monitor that case.

Thanks RedK. So you think it's definitely a bug, but that only affects some users? The first case you posted, mentions that the flash does not show in the print preview, but prints out on the actual print. In my situation, neither seems to work...

I can't remember if it worked before the upgrade to 1.5...

Yeah, I think this is a bug.
You say this only affects some users, do you know of others that do not have this issue?
Are they using the same operating system?

It may also be dependant on which extensions you have installed.

I am pretty sure it is a bug though, Mozilla are getting flooded with duplicate issues.

take a look at this case
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134002
each crossed out bug id, is a case that mozilla has deemed to be similar

<< You say this only affects some users, do you know of others that do not have this issue?
No, I just assumed from your first post that my issue was an isolated case.

I take it that you don't have either FF or WinXP? Or do you have similar issues also?

I can check a different machine tomorrow to see if it's the same there...

Ok, I gave this another try, and it seems that the Flash actually WILL print, but only if print-preview is not used. I.e. it works if I print the page directly, but will not print if I print from print-preview.

I've been using a PDFCreator as printer, but I don't think this would make a difference.

I guess that is my problem sorted then. As long as I can actually print, the print-preview issue is only a minor drawback...

I have winxp and FF, and yes I can duplicate your problem. i have done it on 2 machines here, with the same result.

Sorry my first post was misleading, on an initial search it appeared your case was isolated, but after reading the mozilla bug reports, I am sure the problem is widespread, and will affect all users of 1.5 at least.

Yeah, being able to print is a nice touch, Mozilla are getting hounded about the print preview issue, I reckon they will have it fixed in the next couple of releases.

Ok, thanks for your help. I'm glad I thought of trying the print button directly :) I probably wouldn't have thought of it if it hadn't been for your post...
