connections are established through sockets,
i.e. http urlConnection is indeed a socket connected to an http server

Good morning objects.

ya see what i though was socket is an endpoint for a communication between 2 computers.  It is also an object that corresponds to a network connection and a URL is just a pointer to a resource on WWW.

I was just trying to convenice myself that their is more to a Socket/URL...

you thought right

A socket is a low-level software device for connecting two computers together
Sockets can also be used to connect two programs running on the same computer

we have two kinds of sockets:
1 a client socket, that initiates the communication
2 A ServerSocket waits for a request

A URL is a Uniform Resource Locator, typically a Web address
