I'm wish to develop a web application using eclipse 3.1.2 with tomcat (any version).<br />

It seems I have to install the sysdeo plugin and a tomcat version.<br />
<br />
Before doing that, I noticed that in the (unmodified) eclipse plugin directory &nbsp;there is a &quot;org.eclipse.tomcat_4.1.30<wbr />.1&quot; directory, &nbsp;with what seems to be a tomcat installation.<br />
<br />
Why this tomcat stuff is not visible when I enter the IDE? &nbsp;Do any of you know what this is for, &nbsp;and if it can be used for developemnt and testing?<br />

Hi experts,

Why this tomcat stuff is not visible when I enter the IDE?  Do any of you know what this is for,  and if it can be used for developemnt and testing?

Does eclipse 3.1.2 installs tomcat as well?

Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) is a specification defining a collection of Java-based server and client technologies and how they interoperate. Java EE specifies server and client architectures and uses profiles to define technology sets targeted at specific classes of applications. All Java EE profiles share a set of common features, such as naming and resource injection, packaging rules and security requirements.

Web Components are a set of standards currently being produced by Google engineers as a W3C specification that allow for the creation of reusable widgets or components in web documents and web applications. The intention behind them is to bring component-based software engineering to the World Wide Web. The components model allows for encapsulation and interoperability of individual HTML elements. Support for Web Components is present in Chrome and Opera and is in Firefox (with a manual configuration change). Microsoft's Internet Explorer has not implemented any Web Components specifications yet. Web Components consist of 4 main elements: Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, HTML Imports and HTML Templates.
