Connection Time Out

     I have two applications one using IdtcpClient and another IdTcpServer component.Two applications are running at different locations.Earlier the client was able to connect to the server running at remote location.But,now it is giving Connection timeout exception.How to resolve it.

    Accepted Solution

    Make sure the ports set are correct

    Make sure server is listening

    No Firewalls or anything like that, routers etc

    You could try increasing the "IdTCPClient1.ConnectTimeout" value
    I think it's in milliseconds so
    "IdTCPClient1.ConnectTimeout" := 30000; // 30 seconds
    Is there something at the server you can pig, to make sure you can "see" the remote machine?
    e.g. ping myserver
    Can you try running the client on the same machine as the server (to bypass any firewall, bad routes etc)
    If you can, and you can connect ok - this means the server is working ok, and you should look for a network problem
