Automatic disconnection of yahoo messenger

On Monday, I signed into my Yahoo account without a problem. While I was online, I was all of a sudden signed out and a message appeared saying "you have been signed out because you signed in on a different computer or device"
Can anyone please tell me what this means? Has someone taken over my account?
And at present now after every 10 minutes iam disconnected and immediately reconnected to yahoo messenger. My operation system is xp and messenger version
7.0.5.811 yahoo messenger with voice

This is possible. I would suggest changing your password immediately.

Also, do a virus scan, spyware scan and make sure your firewall is turned on. You may have a keylogger on your computer.

Hi

In addition to resetting you password and performing a scan for malware (very good advice) you may find some useful advice on the yahoo help pages such as:

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/access/access-03.html

The behaviour you described can be caused with cookie issues relating to corrupt cookies, incorrect system date, cookies being blocked etc.

Hope this helps

cheers

Download and run HijackThis from http://www.hijackthis.de/
Copy-and-paste the resulting log back to that same web site (not here)
Click on "Analyze", and then click on "Save Analysis" at the bottom of the next page.
Finally post a link here to the saved analyzed page.

The Evil-ution of Network Security Threats

What are the hacks that forever changed the security industry? To answer that question, we created an exciting new eBook that takes you on a trip through hacking history. It explores the top hacks from the 80s to 2010s, why they mattered, and how the security industry responded.

on the hijack, if you haven't already.... fix all the things that say 'nasty' or 'unnesesary'. Also, go do some windows updates. www.microsoft.com then click on update windows and follow the instructions.

*If you find yourself spending too much time trying to fix this....I'm wondering if a reinstall of Service Pack 2 wouldn't be faster (and would likely fix the problem)

Hope this helps

Hi Learn666

Thanks for following the yahoo instructions.
As suggested by AetAdmin2436 have you also changed your password?

The scan results do not look too bad apart from -

brmfrsmq.exe - may be a worm - see:
http://fileinfo.prevx.com/QQaf1d19875597-BRMF15562525/BRMFRSMQ.EXE.html

The only thing identified as Nasty was the url entry for http://www.raaga.com - if this is intentionally your start page then it is no problem

Hello kevinf40,
How to fix these errors like do we have any software or it can be done manually.
Like i want to remove that BRMFRSMO.EXE.html worm or error.
Already i am using spyware doctor and frequently i scan the system.

I will try to change my operating system and upgrade it to windows xp service pack 2 and see what will happen

Hello LEARN666,
If you cant get this solved, u may need to run the installation of windows again. If you have the CD, u could try the REPAIR option. This will put back the windows files as per the first install but you will lose any ms updates you have got. But it wont reformat hard disk (so as long as you dont go the new install route and select format partition)
So u still got your data.

For viruses, its always worth running another check with another provider. You can get free online scans done.

For spyware, I found using differnet software, gets different results, so perhaps u need to run a number of them

Good luck

Hi

Have you up-to-date AV software - this should be picking most things up.
Failing that try downloading the software linked from the page describing the malware identified by spyware doctor.

I know we've mentioned it already but can you confirm you have changed your yahoo password.

If your only issue is yahoo messenger disconnecting then I would say that re-installing the O/S may be overkill...

Hi

Can you try downloading a large file - just to confirm that there are no issues with your internet connection - if that is having intermittent issues - even if they are only brief this may cause the behavior you are seeing.

probably a bit of a long-shot, but I think it is worth ruling out the connection if disconnecting and re-connecting to yahoo appears to be your only issue.

Hi

Yes i think kevinf40 you are right becoz i tried to download a large file and i could not do so i think its my internet connection problem.I have to get it checked up and any how thank u all for guiding me i learnt many things which dont know at all like the hijack software and some cookie settings.
Regarding software everything  was fine like vius definitions, spyware doctor and updated operating system but still the problem is unsolved i think it may be my connection probelm.
