ok, I am trying to mount a windows share (\\rbserv\rbdata) to /mnt/rbserv.

I have created the director /mnt/rbserv and have added the following line to the mtab file in /etc...

//rbserv/rbdata /mnt/rbserv smbfs username=administrator,password=password 0 0

Now when I type mount /mnt/rbserv I get the following ...

mount: unknown filesystem type 'smbfs'

This used to work on RedHat 9 but now im setting this up on Fedora 5 and the commands don't seem to work. I have installed samba.

Help!

mount -t cifs -o username=administrator //rbserv/rbdata /mnt/rbserv

If that doesn't work, replace rbserv with the ip address of the windows server box.

And if it still doesn't work, you may not have samba (the client and samba common files) installed. Then you need to install samba.

Thanks, had to change the smbfs to cifs and rbserv to the ip, worked fine then.
