Clone OS2 Drive - with Fujitsu Dynamic Disk Overlay installed?

Hello All,

I have a "repartee" voicemail system running on OS2.  The drive is a fujitsu 6.4gb.  It has fujitsu's dynamic drive overlay installed on it.  I inherited this system, so I do not know why the DDO is installed.

I want to clone/ghost the drive to another drive for backup purposes.  I have tried ghost to no avail.  I've also tried DFSee, which said the clone was successful but then OS2 wouldn't boot (system halted message).

I'm looking for a way to clone the working drive to another drive likely of a different size, with or without the DDO (prefer without if possible, but not mandatory).

Any help appreciated.

Mike

As far as I remember you can install a new system on the other drive, connect it as a secondary, copy the files with xcopy.
Things were much easier in the 90's.

Thanks for the response.  When you say "install a new system"... do you mean load OS2 on the "new" drive first?  If so...I don't have the disks  :(

You can use the internal command of os/2

XCOPY /H /O /T /S /E /R /V  \Source drive  \Destination drive

You dont have install anything just copy

Good-Luck

Sorry for the long delay, to complement on dannykon, after you connect the secondary drive, format it from within OS/2 (you can even fromat /S, but it's not needed)  and then use  the instructions from dannykon.

Yes format the disk but don't do this with the /s switch because the command I mentioned above will copy all the system files.

Use the command

FORMAT 'drive' /FS:HPFS

To create a hpfs partition

Second
XCOPY /H /O /T /S /E /R /V  \Source drive  \Destination drive

Good-Luck
