SBS 2003 Connect to the Internet Wizard Fails
I am working on an SBS 2003 Server which had been working perfectly fine. However, I was working with the Monitoring and Reporting tools yesterday and received an error message telling me that there is a problem and I need to reinstall the Server Tools – which I stupidly did. During Server Tools reinstall, the Intranet component failed. Did some research and found that the patch 832880 was required. Installed the patch but did not resolve the problem. Besides losing access to the companyweb, none of the clients can access the Internet now – which is the real problem. When I attempt to run the Connect to Internet Wizard, the network configuration component fails. I have been on the phone with Microsoft Support ($500-critical business support-ouch!) but they have not been able to resolve the problem. They seem to believe it is how the two nics are configured. But I followed SBS Best Practices and I reminded them that everything was fine until Server Tools was reinstalled.
Is there a connection between the Intranet component and network configuration? MS support says there is not and it is just a coincidence.
If anybody has any advice or suggestions where to go from here I would really appreciate it.

Also, Post an IPCONFIG /ALL here and I will take a look at your NIC configuration.

The icwlog.txt file shows an error that indicates Client Apps are not installed but they are. I will reinstall those and SP1 after all users have logged off for day.
Thank you for the quick response.

There's nothing wrong with the NIC configuration, although you should check to see if your binding order is correct by going to Network Connections > Advanced Settings...
Make sure the Internal NIC is on top and while you're there you should make sure that File & Print Sharing isn't checked on the External NIC (just a security issue).
Getting everything else back up shouldn't be too difficult... Normally when you reinstall server tools you need to specify "maintenance" on client deployment and make sure that Outlook and IE both have check marks.
However if you still have failures you will need to completely uninstall and reinstall the components that fail by following all of the steps provided in the KB article for that specific component.

Both of the above items you pointed out are currently configured correctly.
Thanks again for the help. I will let you know how the Server Tools/SP1 reinstall goes...

First look at the log in C:\program files\Windows Small Business Server\Support\icwlog.txt
Post the last section's errors here if you need help with them.
After that is resolved then you can see if everything comes back together. If your server had SP1 installed already and you did not reapply that after reinstalling the server tools, then that would definitely cause problems.
