POP3 Issue

Hello-
One of my users downloads email to her Treo using Snappermail. When she downloads messages to her handheld they are automatically marked as 'Read' in Outlook. I contacted Snappermail support who said it was an Exchange issue. I haven't been able to find any material on this, but is there a way to leave 'Popped' messages marked as 'Unread' in Outlook? Thanks in advance!

P.S. They're running SBS 2003 with Exchange SP2 and Outlook 2003 on the desktops

Because running POP3 on an SBS is insecure and resource intensive.  Plus it doesn't allow a true synchronization of her Outlook Mailbox... including calendar items. (which is probably a better reason to not use POP3 as far as the client is concerned).

What did she not like about Versamail?  Since it works with Exchange's ActiveSync it's pretty seemless.

If they are running SBS2003 then why is she using Snappermail?  SBS is fully supportive of Treo.

If it's a 650, the how-to is here:  http://msmvps.com/blogs/kwsupport/archive/2005/07/09/56852.aspx

Also, FYI, the Treo should not be using POP3 to get the messages from Exchange.

We set her up intially using Versamail but she was displeased with how it worked. Why shouldn't the Treo use POP3 from Exchange?

She kind of nit-picked about the layout of it. I'll give it Versamail another shot. It's at the point now where she just wants it to work. Thanks for your help

No problem.  Since we know Versamail does work, then that's what I'd recommend doing.  :-)
