Is there a way to unload outbound message que in GW 6.0?

Untrained, inexperienced but still need an answer.
GW 6.0 we shut off our email system when it stopped sending messages and we kept getting errors.
Now that we have finally gotten it to work again (sending emails and receiving) our email system wants to send all the messages that did not go previously due to error.
These messages are old... back to March 06.  Is there a way to clean out a que? or some place to stop these messages from being sent.  I would like to turn GW back on but don't dare since it is sending all these old messages.
Any plain english suggestions? for a non tech?

Hmmm.....mebbe. It'll be a bit messy, because if you just delete the queued messages, their Status in the sending user's Sent Items folder will remain forever "Pending" and never change to "Transferred". As long as you understand and are willing to accept that annoyance, there's no problem.

On the server hosting the GWIA, go to the WPGATE directory, and the GWIA subdirectory. The WPGATE directory will be in a directory named the same as the GroupWise Domain in which the GWIA resides. Thus, if your GWIA resides in the GroupWise Domain INTERNET, then the GWIA directory should be INTERNET\WPGATE\GWIA on whatever Volume it was installed on. I don't know all these names, you need to know them or find them out. No way for me to see what's on your ConsoleOne screen.

In there, look for directories named DEFER and SEND. These should be the directories holding the queued messages. They should have March timestamps. Delete all the files that are from that timeperiod.
