Manufacturing mobile devices

Dear experts,

I have a potential project that requires developing a device hardware prototype as well as a software application for it. Since I don't know nothing about building a device prototype, I have no idea where to start. I'm looking for articles, websites, names of vendors, or anything that can help me to better understand what are the steps to build a device prototype.

Additionally, the initial proposed design of the device will be small, high-mobility, with smart programmable buttons and greyscale TFT screen. Do you have any suggestions/recommendations?

Regards,
Anthony

ASKER

Hi PUNKY,

Thanks for your suggestion. I will have a look at it. So far that I realise the SMTA is in the US and most of the events are held in the US too. Since I'm based in Australia, it would probably be a bit difficult for me at the moment.

But thanks!

Oop! not know that you are from Australia ...

Are you looking for component level (chip design, wafer fab), or PCB level (print circuit board assembly), or completed unit (finished good that included mechanical, testing, etc)? Reason I asked because your question is in wide areas!
Thanks for asking that question (actually!!)

I'm designing a system that requires a proprietary device to be designed and built, however I know nothing about electronics, PCB design, etc. and I was thinking of hiring a hardware design consultant to design the device from components selection, PCB design, to product design. But i don't know how to start...
