How can i install a EPSON EPL 5500W in windows XP

I have wirtten to Epson, and they inform me that Microsoft have withdrawn support for the Windows Printing System which, apparantly includes support for the EPSON EPL 5500W.

When i connect the printer to XP it recognises the unit as a EPSON EPL 5500W. I was wondering is there any way i can force windows to install workable drivers for this printer.

The only drivers i have found tell me that "Drivers for Windows NT will soon be released" when i attempt to install them.

Is there a place i can get 'old drivers' from ?? or is there a way i can get windows XP to circumvent the dialog box and xontinue with the installation ??

I have installed windows XP with NTFS on this occasion. The install rom didn't have a FAT32 option.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Try the HP laserjet4 drivers native to windows XP. If it doesn't work then nothing has been lost.
I had terrible problems with XP SP2 and EPL5800 and EPL 5900. This solved the problem in both cases.

Hope it works for the 5500W

Thanks for your help, but nothing worked. I tried youe suggestions and tried doing all the regular things. I think the procedure failed because my client had just moved from a FAT file system to NTFS (ME to XP) and this, I feel, was one of the major reasons that the drivers offered on the internet (all FAT) would not solve the problem.

    Thanks again,

    Brendan Vowles.

P.S. Sorry i did not get back to you sooner, as I have been  somewhat unwell.
