RRAS/Satellite connections

I have a user that uses a HughesNet Professional satellite connection from her home office.  I am running a Windows 2003 routing and remote access server so that remote users can log into our network.  When the satellite user attempts to connect to the VPN, the connection is unable to authenticate the user name and password, and it says that the remote server is not responding.  This only occurs over the satellite connection.  I know VPN connectivity with satellite can be a pain, but are there any connection settings or software I can install on the computer to allow it access?

hi christopher_perry,

did you find out yet if the serviceprovider allows GRE-protocol?

After a bit of testing and calls to the ISP's tech support, it looks like the problem is due to the latency of the connection (it's really high!).  According to HughesNet (the satellite provider), they do not block any of the ports necessary for VPNs to work.
well then , do you use PPTP or IPsec?

the more secure protocols might be more sensitive to latency since they usually have mechanisms to prevent replay-attacks.
It's the standard Windows VPN connection... PPTP, I think
