Outlook emails showing "On Behalf Of" in Sender field.

Outlook 2002 and 2003 clients on Win2K workstations with an on-site Exchange 5.5 server.  Email hosted off site.

Just recently our email host had to make some server changes and ever since those changes were made every email we receive indicates it's being sent "From: main_account@emailhost.com on behalf of original sender[original sender@xxxx.com]"

Prior to the changes it only indicated "From:  original sender" and didn't include all of the other info, which is the way I'd like it to appear for incoming emails.

Is there any way I can get this back to the way it was?  TX!

Greetings, r_talkington !

You need to get your email host to make the change in the email header.

Best wishes!

Due to some reason someone may be manually or automatically resending your emails. Like war1 said, speak to the hosting company and explain what had happened. Chances are that this is temporary solution by the hosting company to another issue.

Talked to our host and he indicates he had to make the changes due to security issues.  He says he wishes he could change it back but he can't.  Is this going to be an ongoing trend with email hosting now?

I take it there is no solution on the client end?  LIke a reg change or something?

You can use another host which does not do this.  With spam being so prolific, you will see more and more of "On behalf of" notations.

So there's not a registry change that will dictate what Outlook is showing in the From: field?

r_talkington,

Nothing natively in Outlook can make this change. There may be an addin or script that can make the change, but I do not know of one.

Did the hosting company say what the security issues were?

Frankly, I disagree with war1 says regarding "sending on behalf of...". I think that your hosting company is unable to implement a better solution and hence you are facing the music as it were. Agree with war1 about getting another better equipped hosting company.

Think of all the issues that you will face. Cant press reply, the email addresses may not get through properly etc.

I'll second upul007 here .......

I've yet to see any message "sent on behalf of .." unless it was new mail sent using the 'delegate permissions' avenue using outlook & exchange.

If your hosting company cannot fix this find a new one.
New customer's would never accept this and why should you be stuck.

Hmmm, must have missed the email indicating another reply here.  Thanks for the help, guys.  Much appreciated.  I'm gonna discuss this with my host and see what he comes up with.

r_talkington,

Did you get your host to email the change in the header?
