2k3 R2, new install won't install AD

Hello,
I am deploying a new server with 2k3 R2 on it. And I am trying to make it a domain controller in a 2k3 environment. This is the error I get:
          The operation failed beacuse:
The active directory installation wizard cannot continue because the forest is not prepared for installing Windows server2003. use the adprep command-line tool to prepare both the forest and the domain. For more information asbout using thye Adprep, see AD help.
"The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with with version of Active Directory on the computer"

Any ideas anyone?

This new server will replace an existing DC. And there are 2 other DCs. All on 2k3.

Can this be run on a production DCs? Or does it need to be an off hours thing?

Thanks
I'd play it safe and do a system state backup on ALL DCs and then do this during off hours - though I would EXPECT it should work and be unnoticeable to users if you did it during the day.
