How to fire a button event on a windows control when a button on an external USB device is pressed

Hi Experts,

I have a speech dictator connected through the USB. I am using it to record audio files. I want to fire the button events in my windows application when the buttons on the device are pressed. I know this can happen but just dont know how. Can anybody please help me out here.
