800 series doesnt have expansion slots, then will not support multiple-wan, voice, ...

1800 and 2800 series have 1 or multiple expansion module and are faster.

IMHO they are just trying to sell you a new one. Their suggestion is a non-sense!!  Ask them why... they won't have any answer!!!

Thanks Danny
Agreed:
 - Which one has more processing power and the ability to handle the network?
 - I would be happy if they would have offered the same brand i.e 2600
 - To me Security, network handling (speed of processing packets etc) would be of more importance.
 - Right now we use access list on the same 2600 router.
I am totally blank on the 800 series and the major differences between them.
Thanks

The 1600, 1800, 2600 and 2800 series may support multiple 100Mbps or Gb interfaces whille 800 series only have 10Mbps WAN port non-upgradable. The 800 series are generally built for a specific task, while  a 2600 or 1600 may be modified to different or multiple tasks.

Also, the 800 series OS is slightly different from larger models. This last point is probably the sole reason they ask to use 800 series. Their tech support are more confortable with its OS.  But as i said, this model is limited.
