Unknown - \\ - MSSQLServer - Problem

We have a client running SBS2003 with SQL.

When you hover over the SQL icon in the system tray the SQL Server Service Manager reports -
Unknown - \\ - MSSQLServer

We have other servers in our customer portfiolio that report :
Running - \\ {server name}\SBSMONITORING-MSSQLSERVER

If we start the SQL Server Service manager on the first machine there are no options in the Server and Services drop down box - while on the other machines we have options to choose from.

I am assuming this is a configuration problem and would like to know:

1) On the machine reporting - Unknown - \\ - MSSQLServer - is this OK or should SQL be monitoring
2) How do we resolve the problem assuming it is a problem.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

unless there is any functionality else not working, you can investigate.
for the rest, remove the Service Manager from the startup list (all servers), as it only uses CPU which is not needed on the server.
