How to install SQL Server 2000 on a non-English OS
Our application bundles MS SQL Server 2000 merge modules in the installation. We're installing the desktop edition of SQL Server (MSDE) onto the local workstation. When we install on a French version of Windows XP, we get the following error:
Error: 1609. An error occurred while applying security settings. Users is not a valid user or group. This could be a problem with the package, or a problem connecting to a domain controller on the network.
I'm using MSI to install the application. I'm looking for a transparent installation, one that doesn't require the non-English user to create a user or group called "Users".
