Abrnormal booting of PC

Experts,please help me on this
My client have a computer with SIS Motherboard, but when I switch it on it takes about 10-20 minutes to boot or at some time it fails at all to boot until the following morning. Another thing is that it says that the password is expired but when I try to change it it says I have no privilleage to change the password. But it seems the account is the administator account as the other one present is "Guest" which is a ristricted account.

It seems my client has mingled around with the BIOS as she said the problem started after accessing the BIOS settings.

Please help me solve the two problems.

1. To make the PC to boot normally-not taking long time as mentioned above.

2. To allow me to access administrator password and change it or to give me administrative privilliage to the account present and change the password.

Perhaps your client has changed the date/time setting in the BIOS, if the password has `expired` it may be the 1st thing to check.

You havn't said what OS you are using but sounds like a Windows thing, have you tried booting safe mode? If the hardware is OK you may get more assistance from a microsoft group rather then this hardware one.

I'm afraid we can help with the cracking the admin account as it's against the EE AUP. Googling may help there but that would be a last resort.

Hello there,

Try this stie out for methods on how to gain access to the administrator password. also You might want to try doing "Last Known Good Configuration" to get here if you don't know press F8 at startup and it should take you to Advance startup.

Hope this helps

@Spec01
I managed to find the administrator password using the first tool in your link, and was able to change it successfully to something which can be remembered. The problem now  is the PC display the message which says " Unable to log you on because of an account restriction ".It then bring me back to login screen.I was amazed because I thought the administrator password has no restrictions.

Another account also says it has no privilleages to be change its password.

May be you can help.
Is it part of a domain or local connection?

Did your user actually change any BIOS settings?

Did the problem really occur after they changed any settings?

I have tried to load default BIOS Settings without success,so I suspect bad capacitors like you mentioned. Also the client said the problem once occured and she took it to technicians who did a temporary solution.

From now I will re-install another OS on top of the existing one to bypass problem 2, then advice the client to take the PC to PC repair technicians to solve problem 1.

Thank you all for showing keen interest in helping.
