Find currently logged on user

I have several applications that will give me information from machines on my network, including machine name and username. We do not name these the same. At times, some machines will bring back a result that shows that the current user is machinename$. Does any one know why this happens and if anything can be done about it.

Thanks,
Barry

NFR key for Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365

Veeam is happy to provide a free NFR license (for 1 year, up to 10 users). This license allows for the non‑production use of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 in your home lab without any feature limitations.

This works fine, but do you know why the following happens? At times, some machines will bring back a result that shows that the current user is machinename$.

Thanks,
