Crystal report: Not supported Details: cannot obtain error message from server

Created a store prcedure in Oracle.

Created a new crystal report.

Created a new command. Try to select the procedure into the command. Get this error message:

Nnot supported cannot obtain error message from server.

That could mean just about anything.  Why are you trying to use the command to connect to the stored procedure instead of just hitting it normally?  It's quite possible that you have a syntax error in your call to the procedure.

Also, does your Oracle SP return a ref cursor as it's first IN OUT parameter?

we are trying to insert data into a temp table in the SP, and that may be the reason I am getting that error since Crystal Command doesn't allow any DML activities.

IS there any other work around?

I'd say that's a possibility.

I've successfully called Oracle SP's that in turn call other SP's to do a wide array of processing and have never had any problems.  In every case though, I just connect to the SP through the Create Report Wizard instead of via a Crystal Command.  I can't say for certain that'll make a difference but I'd give it a shot.
