Docked panel not contained by surrounding panels

I have a form that I am trying to seperate into 4 sections; top, bottom, left and fill (these are the docking properties of each).
What I need is for the top and bottom panels to contain the left panel so that the heigth of the left panel is controled by the width of the top and bottom panel.

I am docking the top and bottom panels to the top and bottom of the form ok, however when I then dock the left panel it will dock not only on the left side of the form but also it will egnore the top and bottom panels and stretch all the way to the top and bottom of the form. Interestingly enough, the last panel (fill) does not cover the top and bottom panels but will fill the remaining space as expected.

What do I need to do to get the left panel to fill only up to the border of the top and bottom panels?

    Hello Sling_Blade,

not sure what your order was, but the panels are docking in the order of putting them on the form
so start with the bottom and top panels, then the left panel and finally the fill

    hope this helps a bit
