Modify Info / Metadata Properties of PDF File

I need to be able to modify standard metadata properties (Title, Subject, Keywords, etc) and also add some custom properties.
The Acrobat SDK provides a SetInfo method to change these properties, and, I've read somewhere, that you can create a custom property simply by supplying your own key (property) instead of the name of a standard property. This is exactly what I want to achieve.
However, the latest version Acrobat SDK (version 7) that I've downloaded has a bug whereby the SetInfo method does not change the value of the property to what you specify.

Short of downloading an older version of Acrobat SDK, is there another easy to use thrid party SDK that I can use to modify standard properties and create custom properties? I've tried ActivePDF but can't seem to figure out how I can create custom properties there.

Any help would be most appreciated.
