What's a TTextMetric?

can someone give me a SIMPLE explenation about TTExtMetric?

I know I you can find the explenation also in Delphi Help.
But I don't understand any of it. What do I have to Imagine!

In simple terms, its the record structure used to hold the metrics (information such as char height, pitch / family, max width, average width, first / last char, etc) for a specified font, and is normally seen/used with the GetTextMetrics API. The most common usage of GetTextMetrics in the Delphi VCL is for obtaining the char height to use when drawing.
