MCSE certification - did it help you?

I have a few comptia and IBM certifications- Does anybody have MCSE certification with Windows 2003 server? I don't just plan on studying to pass the exams- I am hoping to take my time and learn something during the process-
I am getting some negative feedback -when I studied for the A+ and Network + certs , in my case -it  helped me alot , How do you guys that have the MCSE feel about the knowledge you aquired?

thank you

The cert alone will help get you 'in the door'.  Though most managers prefered experience over book knowledge when hiring or applying for jobs.  Another thing to think about, when the hiring person sets requirements they usually list a cert or 2 just to weed out the candidates.  So the more you can meet the requirements the easier to get the interview.
I agree with Mazaraat, when he says that experience is to be preferred, but this is true for every certification.
Speaking of MCSE, I think that if you intend to use it as a means of learning more, not just four letters to put on your resumè, then you are right: I believe that I would have never had the opportunity to learn about many "under cover" aspects of Active Directory, DNS and many other useful tricks, without the books and courses. It also helps to know, you have an exam coming up, I believe it gives you some more motivation.
