Error you do not have permisson to view this mailbox

exchange 2000
windows 2000 domain
xp clients
office 2000

I created a new user in AD + exchange account

on one of our client machines (this user has power user rights)
I opened up their emial and added the new account as a new profile

however when I go to open the mailbox it says you don't have permission to view this mailbox

I set the new user account up so everyone can access it so i'm not sure why it won't open.

I as an administrator am able to open it though

Does this user need admin rights to view other profile mailboxes?

What permissions exactly did you grant to this new account?
If you want everyone to be able to open the mailbox then you need to grant full mailbox rights. If you want them to be able to send email as that user, then you need to grant Send As rights as well. No further rights need to be granted - if you have done so then you may have locked out accounts.

Also don't forget that Exchange caches permissions - which are only flushed every couple of hours.

It is not normal for a domain admin to have access to all mailboxes, so something has been changed in the domain to make that so.

Simon.
