HP Insight services - which ones can be disabled?

We have a Proliant ML330 G3 server - some annoying PerfLib error messages every 4-6 seconds in the application log.

I want to stop the Insight services - can I safely disable all of them?

High points for this urgent question - server has partially crashed at the moment and I need to eliminate this aspect.

Hi mbhh,

there is a hotfix avaiable that you may want to trial
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23910.html

otherwise if they are just HP services then you dont need them

is this a reoccuring crash or does it happen randomly?  if it's reoccuring you can see if it's a memory leak.

1.  ctrl+alt+delete and click task manager
2.  click processes tab.
3.  view > select columns and check page faults delta, vritual memory size, and paged pool.
4.  now watch those three columns if there is a service with VM size constantly increasing see what service it is, that's the problem.
5.  same with an increasing PF Delta.

Let me know,

What I know so far - I have disabled all the HP Insight services, and the result seems to be:

- Terminal Server no longer responds
- Exchange server is behaving oddly - one user attempting to send an email got a window requesting his password

The PerfLib thing has just been an annoyance factor for some months now, so I disabled the Insight services in a moment of anger.

Free Tool: Subnet Calculator

The subnet calculator helps you design networks by taking an IP address and network mask and returning information such as network, broadcast address, and host range.

I'd recommend closing this one and opening another question with the issues you are having now.

he's asking a different question unrelated to this one.  according to EE rules, he needs to close this and reopen another one.

Conclusion - the HP Insight services are optional.

Reason for Terminal Server not working - there was an Event log error 50 TermDD - and a suggestion at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323497 worked.

The email issue was due to a workstation being left on during server restart.

Thanks to you both.
