Cisco MPLS Network configuration - How is it done?

Hello,

Please can someone explain how one could configure their own MPLS network? At the moment we have about 20 sites connected via BT IP Clear and I'm wondering if we were to move this say to 1mbit SDSL per site could we then create our own MPLS network?

How are they created? Would you have seperate VPN tunnels to each site from each site and just do some fancy routing. Eg.

Paris has VPN to Dublin
Paris has VPN to Frankfurt
Paris has VPN to London

and vice verus

all going over the single SDSL connection. Is this possible. Would appreciate some explainations along with sample configs if possible. Please don't google me a link as I can do that.

I'm familar with all other Cisco configs/topologys etc just new to configuring MPLS myself.

Cheers guys

>>You have a few options if you want to control all the ciruits and routing but do you mind if I ask why you wish to change from BTs service?  I am assuming the cost of the service - you are pretty much paying the big money as its a stable, reliable service (also perfect for a voip rollout), BT offer per-circuit realtime monitoring and all the extras you will not get from a DSL service.

The costs are around £4400 for 128k, £5500 for 256k, £8500 for 512k, £11,000 for 1mbit and £12,000 for 2mbit. (we get 14% off these listed prices as were in a 5 year UDS contract until May 2008)

We have a couple sites on 2mbit and the rest are on 256k. Costs are around 100k a year for our 18 or so sites across UK and Ireland.

Each site has around 10-20 users. The network just about runs ok but of course the ability to burst up high to 512k or even 1mbit is sometime that would take off the 9am and 1pm network bursts. We are looking at how we can deploy VOIP to make cost savings without increasing the cost of the links dramatically.

BTW. What sort of MPLS do you have with BT and what sort of prices are you looking at for various access speeds?
