Folders open up to search window

For whatever reason, when you double click on a folder it opens up to the 'search' window instead of showing the folder's contents. Also, the "Change Icon" feature is no longer available when you right click a folder and select options?

Any thoughts on this small but annoying problem?

Hi Albeej221,

this is often a problem with xp, but the same symptoms occur with 2k3

Will that take care of the change icon button missing in the folder properties?

nope just the folders bit.

is the customise TAB still available

Yes-- it is as if the lower part, Change icons just disappeared.

you can try a sfc /scannow and see if it replaces your settings
