Adobe Reader There was an error opening this document. this file is damaged and cannot be repaired

Hello Need Help,

I'm receiving this error on all adobe fiiles being emailed within the company, also any PDF's being emailed from the outside world, into the company.

Any PDF's being sent out are fine.

I have adobe 7.07 and other various versions from 5 on up. I ran some test I disabled Norton Corp 10.0 on the Imail Server, as well as the client machine.

Thank You,

Mike

Are you receiving this error if you Save the attached PDF first to hard drive, then try to open it by going into Acrobat, saying File Open, and opening the PDF like that?

Greetings, traut01 !

I have found if I have Adobe Professional 6 (the "writer") and install Adobe Reader 7, I get the same error message when trying to open a file from a web page link. If I uninstall Adobe Reader 7, so that now only Adobe Professional 6 is installed, then I can open pdf files in the web. If I uninstall Adobe Professional 6, restart the computer and install Adobe Reader 7, PDF's open OK. It's the combination of having Adobe Acrobat Professional 6 and then installing Adobe Reader 7 that is the problem.

The fix is to uninstall all the Adobe Products. Install Adobe Acrobat Professional 6. Restart the computer. Install Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 (SIX). Then things work.

Best wishes!

I rebooted the Server a couple of times and that seemed to fix the problem.

Thank You for your responses,

Mike
