Dirxml workstation groups, sync between Edirectory and  AD

Is it possible to sync a security group that have workstation object as members in AD with a workstation group in Edirectory using Dirxml. I want to do that because we are using zenworks as application distribution and we using AD to manage everything. The most applications are assigned to groups containing users now i want to assign applications to workstatin object instead.

    Accepted Solution

The standard eDir/AD driver that ships with IDM will only really do users and groups as standard. You're getting into some fairly hefty XSLT work if you want to sync additional objects like that. You'd probably be best retaining the user group app associations, but using other availability settings to differenciate. You can do it on environment variables etc, so you could filter zen app availability via workstation name prefix etc... Alternatively use AD policy to distribute a variable to your workstation group for a specific app, then add the availability filter based on the presence (or not) of that.

You may be able to do something with workstation import.  What version of ZEN are you using?  How does your import policy name the workstation object?

Alternatively, you could maybe do something using LDAP?  Too bad AD isn't fully compliant with the v3 spec...
