Check your event logs.  Reboot the servers.  Call Microsoft.  If the cluster is that important to your business, the amount of time you waste trying to get support from people in the community will easily cost you more than the $245 call to microsoft.  Don't necessarily give up on the community... but clusters tend to be for mission critical data - if that's what this is, then the Microsoft call will easily pay for itself.

In Windows 2003 prior create install SQL Server 2000 SP3 (it minimum I am recomended or high) you must create MSDTC (Distributed Transaction Coordinator), and only after create you must install SQl.
If its not help you must install all post windows 2003 Sp1 hotfix, latest drivers, firmware on all hardware.
Hello Joe. Is this a cluster that has been running for a while or a brand new one?
PS.

The obvious ones to check are:

Check the disk volume is available through disk manager and the drive letters assigned still.
No other device has picked up the virtual IP
make sure the cluster service itself is running; this also requires RPC, Net Time and WMI services to be running.
The account name has not been changed for the services.

Hi Guys,

The follwoing fixed my issue, the cluster went down after installing SP1 + updates for win server 2003.

I setup the premissions in the Default Domain policy (e.g. Log on as a service, part of the operating system etc...)

After applying the premissions I shutdown both nodes, started Node 1 and the cluster service started without issue. Started node 2 and restarted the SQL services.

Working perfect now.

Thanks anyways.

Joe
So my second suggestion "Reboot the servers" worked?
We'll not exactly, rebooting the servers didn't fix the issue, the main issue was the premissions for the cluster service login account. Thats what fixed the issue the reboot came after that.
lol, joe, follow this link please.
