CISCO ROUTERS

Hello, I am considering buying CISCO 2600 series routers for my personal lab. However, I have seen that 2610 are much cheaper than 2611 series or even 2621 that are much more expensive.

Can someone tell me the main differences between these series and why there is much difference in price? And if so, can the 2610 be upgradedable to 2611 or 2621.

Which series is best to get on hands experience with?

hi there

i am listing out the differences here
router modelnumber   networkmodule  ehternetports  WICslots  speed

2610xm            1            1            2      20kbps

2611xm            1            2            2      20kbps

2621xm            1            1 or 2            2      30 kbps

all have one 1 Advanced Integration Module (AIM) slot
as seen its only the number of ethernet ports and speeds that differ.

but if ur talking about the 2610 2611 and 2621 models they are not on end-of-life and cisco has stopped production of them and started the xm series.the end of life products will not have active support and if ur buying from other venders then they might be refurbished or being either sold outside us. pls read this link

pls revert back for additional info

hi there

well every router of cisco is provided with the latest release of os updates so much of the time the os running on the routers is the same only the interfaces and feautures change. so there should not be much of  difference between the OS in 2610,2611,2621 and 2610mx,2611mx,2621mx
