Restrict access to selected 'User' group to selected hard drive partitions / folders
How do I prevent non-admin users of my PC [running Win XP SP2] from accessing selected partitions on my PC / selected folders in some of the partitions?
ASKER
Harish, this does not prevent access to folders which are on another partition.
Is that an NTFS partition or a FAT32 partition ?
If not, you may have to use third-party softwares, as Windows can impose folder restrictions only on NTFS partitions

NTFS partition. Windows can [on NTFS] impose restriction using something called ACSL or something like that. Remember going through it earlier, but not able to locate it.

Hi,
create a group on your pc and put the users in it , then right-click the folders you want to prevent access to and go to the ' security' -tab.
Click 'add' and add the group you created , below check the 'deny'- option next to read-permissions.
If you need help creating a group or assigning permissions let us know...
Hope this helps !
