Name this cable! :)
Hello,
I just bought an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe Motherboard and it came with this mysterious cable. It also is not referenced in the user's manual. I have never seen one of these before. Can someone tell me the following?
1) What is the name of the cable (other than power adapter)?
2) What is it used for?
Here's a picture of it http://digital-expression.org/images/cable.jpg . Thank you!

Hi damijim,
Does it look like this at the black end?

I don't think that was the right think... that's just a normal power adapter with a mini-jack too...
Here's a picture of the connector: http://digital-expression.org/images/cable_connector.jpg
Gotta love these 5.0 megapixel cameras...

Isn't that a molex (4-pin) to SATA power adapter?

Hm, so, right now I'm powering my SATA drives off of normal power plug just like I would an IDE HD. I don't suppose there is a benefit to using the SATA adapter, is there?
ASKER
BTW - yes, that's it.
There actually is a difference between using the normal power plug (molex 4-pin) and the SATA power plug - the SATA drive can only be hot swappable with the latter.

great, thanks!
Its clearly for powering something because the white end is a power connector. Could you zoom in on the black end of the cable?
